ImageUpscalerFree enlarges photos and artwork 2x or 4x using an AI super-resolution model. What makes it unusual is where that model runs: not on our servers, but inside your own browser tab, on your own device.
That choice decides everything else about the product. Because your image never reaches us, there is nothing for us to store, log, train on or lose. Because there is no server doing the work, there is no cost per image, which is why the tool is free and unlimited rather than free-with-a-daily-quota. There is no account to create, because there is nothing to meter.
The models are open source — SPAN, published under CC BY 4.0 — and the runtime is Microsoft’s ONNX Runtime Web. Both are credited in full on the credits page. The first time you upscale something your browser downloads the model, and after that it is cached and everything happens locally.
The trade-off is honest: because the work happens on your device, speed depends on your hardware, and a large 4x job on an older phone takes a while. We think that is a fair price for never handing your photos to a stranger.
